CURRENT EMPLOYMENT

Center Manager, for the Archaeological Center, University of Utah.  Duties include working with GIS programs to generate site maps from GPS data collected in the field, as well as supervising students and volunteers in artifact cataloging, analysis, and writing archaeological reports. 

PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS

Behavioral ecology, ethno-archaeology and spatial analysis, prehistory of the Great Basin, vandalism and visitor impacts to archaeological sites, Pleistocene Australia, Alyawara site structure, design and maintenance of geographic information systems relating to archaeological data.   

Shannon has been working in the field since 1999 conducting survey and excavation in The Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge, Bryce Canyon National Park, Desolation Canyon, Teasdale, Springdale, Tintic, Bluffdale, Notom, Runts Knob, Moab, West Tavaputs Plateau and Range Creek Canyon. Shannon has also conducted archaeological work in Surprise Valley California.
