Teaching Assistant/Field Supervisor![]() Joel is originally from Mankato, Minnesota and attended Minnesota State University. After an extended break he transferred to the University of Utah, where he received a M.S. in Anthropology in 2005. When Joel is not in Range Creek he works as an archaeologist for the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration. After seeing a flyer in the hallway, Joel signed up for the 2001 U of U Summer Field School. It took only a few days in the field for him to decide that archaeology was what he wanted to do with his life. Immediately following the field school he was offered a position with School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA) as an Archaeological Intern, a position he still holds. He has attended every field school since 2002 as a teaching assistant. Joel also volunteers in the Archaeological Center and for the Utah Museum of Natural History.
